How do I start building a house in Liberia?
Before buying blocks or paying a mason, confirm the land position, obtain appropriate drawings and a staged cost plan, and check permitting.
- Liberia’s Ministry of Public Works says construction projects must obtain a construction permit and submit drawings for approval before work begins.
- For a home near ELWA, 72nd or Paynesville, also investigate drainage, road access, delivery routes and available utilities at the actual plot.
- Then divide work into small inspectable stages so each payment corresponds to documented work.
